The aim of the module is to offer a contemporary perspective on managing innovation from invention to commercialization and diffusion. The students will analyse diverse sources of innovation, identify the key characteristics of technical entrepreneurs, distinguish the steps in the innovation process, and identify the various types of intellectual property rights. Particular attention is given to evaluation of innovation strategies as means of exploiting innovations, and discussion of the problems associated with funding of innovation and choice of sources of capital available for innovation. The course utilizes historical and contemporary case studies of innovative products and services.
