Assuring quality of products and services is an essential task in today’s management. This assurance to be achieved is assisted by the appropriate use of effective analytical tools and techniques for analyzing data, solving problems, improving and controlling processes and reducing the potential for failure. In this course we will focus on these issues using the basic Six Sigma strategy.

This module consists of the following:

  1. First the students will be introduced to the Six Sigma strategy in order to understand the tools that will be used in later chapters.
  2. First part of tools, named Statistical Foundations, includes the concepts of random variables, probability distributions and Sampling.
  3. Secondly we move to the Statistical Methodology tools, which include descriptive statistics, correlation, statistical inference, design of experiments and regression analysis.
  4. Thirdly, the students will become familiar with the seven simple basic tools for process improvement used in the six sigma toolbox.
  5. Finally, the methodology of Statistical Process Control will be explained. Here the students will examine control charts for variables and attributes and interpret the behavior observed.
  6. All the above tools will also be explained and used in excel software
