This module consists of the following: Basics of probability theory and distributions, introduction to decision analysis, descriptive statistics of data, estimation methods using the simple regression model and hypotheses testing. Through this course the students will acquire knowledge on basic statistics used in applied sciences, along with methods used such as decision and simple regression analysis. Topics include basic probability theory and introduction to discrete and continuous distributions, the description of data using basic statistical tools such as the mean, median variance and standard deviation, estimation of simple relationships and establishment of correlation among variables and testing hypotheses about the model and data used.
