Professor Vassilios Makrakis, has graduated from the University of Athens in the field of Economics. He continued his studies in Anthropology at Concordia University, Montreal, Canada and at Stockholm University in Sweden, where he received his PhD. He worked at Stockholm University as an Assistant Professor and served as a Researcher at the National Institute for Educational Research in Japan (1989-1990). At the University of Crete he worked as a professor in the field of ICT in Education for Sustainable Development until August 2018. He was a visiting professor at the University of Hiroshima in Japan (1992-93) and advisor to the Minister of Education in the United Arab Emirates (2002-2005) as well as at UNESCO headquarters in Paris (2006). He has published 6 books and more than 150 research papers and has coordinated more than 10 European funded projects. During this period, he was awarded five scholarships by Swedish Institutions, two Scholarships by the Japan Foundation and Canon Foundation, an academic excellence award from the Greek Ministry of Education, the United Nations University Award for RUCAS work and various awards from international organisations and Universities. He now works at Frederick University.

Dr Chrysanthi Kadji-Beltrán, member of the Education Department since 2007, is an Associate Professor of Education for the Environment and Sustainable Development at Frederick University and Vice Chair of the Department of Education. She received her Ph.D. in Environmental Education from the Institute of Educational Sciences at the University of Warwick, UK. She also holds an MSc in Science Education from the same university. She graduated with honors from the BEd program in Primary Education of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and obtained with honors the diploma of teacher from the Cyprus Pedagogical Academy. She has worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the Institute of Environmental Sciences of the University of Zurich (now Institute for Developmental Biology and Environmental Studies) on biodiversity education in teacher education curricula. She teaches Education for Sustainable Development courses at Frederick University's Undergraduate and Postgraduate Programs and participates in ESD related research projects.
